This time we are heading way outback in an Apollo 4WD Adventure Camper. We’ve aiming to visit the Queensland National Parks that require a 4WD – west to Hell Hole and Birdsville; north to Lawn Hill; back via Porcupine Gorge, Blackdown Tableland and Robinson Gorge.
From Quilpie to Windorah, Betoota, Birdsville, Bedourie to Boulia. Luckily the roads opened after the floods on just the right days.
We’ve wanted to see the Lawn Hill Gorge in the Boodjamulla National Park situated in the remote north-west highlands of Queensland for many years. Leaving Boulia, going via Mt Isa and after driving 3,000 km from Brisbane we arrived.
Gregory to Cloncurry then Julia Creek and Kynuna, McKinlay and Winton working our way around the closed, flooded roads.
From Longreah to the Blackdown Tableland National Park with overnights in Jericho and Emerald, we stopped at all the small towns on the way.
In the Blackdown Tableland NP there are 4 walks ranging from 2 to 4 kilometres, short but interesting and each with it’s own character. With two nights in the National Park we were able to walk all four.
From the Blackdown Tableland to Brisbane stopping in Banana, Eidsvold, Wondai and Linville and pulling into all the small towns on the way.
