We saw some photos of colossal stone heads from the 1st Century BC on the remote Mount Nemrut so we had to go there. It’s 550km from Cappadocia, a long drive.

Our 3 day trip to Mount Nemrut and back to Goreme included stops at some other historic sites as well: Karatay Han, Arsemia, Cendere Bridge, Karakus Tumulus Tomb, Harran, Sanliurfa and Birecik.

We booked a 2 day Intrepid Cappodocia Shortbreak trip to get to a few places regular tours don’t go. We were the only ones on the tour and we had a great guide, Fatih and local driver Mehmet who really knew the area and took us to a few hidden gems.
